ViETNAM & CAMBODIA: ONCE IN A LIFETIME JOURNEY

VIETNAM & CAMBODIA:
ONCE IN A LIFETIME JOURNEY

It’s the most unforgettable journey in our life.

Pokoknya Hanoi sorga belanja. Gak percaya?? Datang sendiri. 4 hari di Hanoi cukup membuat koper kita penuh.

24347929522197l

Sama seperti Xian, Ha Long Bay juga termasuk dalam daftar UNESCO World Heritage.

The Killing Fields.

HOI AN

Hoi An yang terkenal oleh “Hoi An Ancient City” atau Hoi An Kota Tua.

HO CHI MINH CITY (SAIGON)

Tapi entah kapan, entah tahun depan, entah sepuluh tahun lagi, entahlah. Ada pepatah mengatakan: “Too many places to go, but too little we have”. Tapi dimana ada kemauan disitu ada jalan, bukan?! Tapi tenang saja banyak jalan menuju Roma. Loh?! Apakah Roma jalan-jalan kita selanjutnya?? Tunggu saja! InsyaAllah…… (dj).

Xian, the City With Over 3 Thousand Years of History

March 21st, 2007 by donnaboer

XIAN
The City With Over 3 Thousand Years of History

Other tourist attractions you can not missed are the City Wall (Cheng Qiang), Bell Tower (Zhong Lou) dan Drum Tower (Gu Lou), dan Chang An Mosque atau Xian Great Mosque.

Great Mosque (Chang An Qing Zhen Si).

Xiangreatmosque03

Xian_great_mosque2

I’d like to go back there again one day but too many places to see and too little time we have, always try to enjoy your stay to any places you go and root them inside your heart. And Xian is rooted in mine. Never say enough to "Travel". So……welcome to China! (dj)

Men charged over plot to sell new Potter novel

2 Britons charged with firearms offenses, handling stolen book

Reuters

Updated: 10:21 a.m. ET June 4, 2005

LONDON

Two British men were charged on Saturday with firearms offenses after allegedly trying to sell a stolen copy of the new Harry Potter book to a tabloid newspaper before its release.

Police were called to an address in Kettering in central England on Friday after reports of a shot being fired.

The Sun newspaper said the incident came as the men tried to sell one of its reporters a stolen copy of “Harry Potter And the Half-Blood Prince” for 50,000 pounds ($90,880).

Northamptonshire police confirmed two men from Kettering had been charged in connection with the incident.

“A 37-year-old has been charged with possession of an offensive weapon and handling a stolen book,” a police spokesman said.

“A 19-year-old man has been charged with the theft of the book and a possession of an imitation firearm intending to cause fear of violence.”

The latest Harry Potter book, set to be released on July 16, is the sixth installment in the hugely popular series about a boy wizard written by British author J.K. Rowling.

The fifth adventure, published in 2003, made publishing history by selling 5 million copies within 24 hours.

Orders for the hugely-anticipated sixth book made it the top seller on amazon.com in the United States and Britain months before its publication.

Rowling’s legal firm Reynolds Porter Chamberlain issued a statement saying it had obtained an injunction against the two arrested men.

“This order was made following our client’s discovery that a copy of the forthcoming Harry Potter Book, Harry Potter And The Half Blood Prince, had been obtained by unauthorized persons who had subsequently offered the book to newspaper journalists,” the statement said.

The Sun said it had intended to expose the men’s attempt to cash in on stolen copy which was now safely in the possession of police.

Police said the two suspects had been granted bail and were due to appear before magistrates early next week.

Anti-Japan protests erupt in China for 2nd day
Tokyo seeks apology, better protection for diplomats, citizens

Updated: 4:46 a.m. ET April 10, 2005

BEIJING - Anti-Japan protests erupted for a second day in China on Sunday, as Tokyo demanded an apology and better protection for its citizens and diplomats after demonstrators smashed windows and threw eggs at the Japanese embassy.

Demonstrations against Japan have spread in China since Tokyo approved a new history textbook that critics say glosses over atrocities by Japan’s military in the first half of the 20th century, including forcing tens of thousands of Asian women into sex slavery.

Beijing denounced the decision, calling the book “poison” for youthful minds in Japan.

Some 10,000 protesters surrounded a japanese-run Jasco supermarket in the southern city of Shenzhen on Sunday, said Ide Keiji, a spokesman for the Japanese Embassy in Beijing.

They shouted “Boycott Japanese goods!” and some threw plastic bottles of mineral water at the store.

Government labels it a ’spontaneous demonstration’
About 3,000 people marched toward the Japanese Consulate General in the southern city of Guangzhou for a peaceful “spontaneous demonstration” and police were maintaining order, said a spokesman with the Guangzhou municipal government who refused to give his name when reached by telephone.

Police prevented demonstrators from getting near the consulate, Keiji said.

A Hong Kong Cable Television correspondent reporting from Guangzhou said the protesters threw eggs at Japanese restaurants as they passed by.

On Saturday, about 1,000 protesters hurled rocks and broke windows at Japan’s Embassy in Beijing, demanding a boycott of Japanese goods to oppose the new schoolbook. They also urged their government to prevent Tokyo from gaining a permanent seat on the United Nations’ Security Council.

China said Sunday it had ordered anti-Japanese protesters in Beijing to stay “calm and sane” and mobilized extra police to maintain public order but Japanese officials complained that not enough was done.

When the protesters arrived at the embassy, security forces allowed people to throw stones, said Keiji.

“They let them do that, they didn’t stop, they didn’t arrest,” he said.

Tokyo wants more protection
Japan’s ambassador to China, Anami Koreshige, called the incident “gravely regrettable” and called on Chinese authorities to protect Japanese citizens and businesses, as well as the embassy and other consulates in China, Keiji said.

Japanese Foreign Minister Nobutaka Machimura also summoned China’s ambassador on Sunday to protest the rally and demand compensation for damages.

Keiji said Japan used diplomatic channels to “repeatedly request” protection of Japanese interests last week following demonstrations in the southern cities of Shenzhen and Chengdu and were given assurances from Beijing.

Saturday’s protest outside of the embassy came after a noisy rally by more than 6,000 people in the university district in Beijing’s northwest, where some burned a Japanese flag.

Anti-Japanese protest in Beijing
Greg Baker / AP
Chinese protesters chant anti-Japanese slogans outside a Japanese restaurant during a rally in Beijing’s Haidian district on Saturday.

Most protests in the Chinese capital are banned, but the government occasionally allows brief rallies by a few dozen people at a time outside the Japanese Embassy on key war anniversaries. Anti-Japanese sentiment runs deep among Chinese, with many resenting what they see as Tokyo’s failure to atone for its wartime aggression.

Saturday’s protest was the biggest in Beijing since 1999, when the U.S. Embassy was besieged after NATO warplanes bombed Beijing’s Embassy in Belgrade during the war over Kosovo.

A trade association for Chinese chain stores called last week for a boycott of beer, coffee and other products made by Japanese companies that it claims supported the textbook revision.

Protesters also oppose Tokyo’s campaign for a permanent seat on the U.N. Security Council — a status held now by only China, the United States, Russia, Britain and France.

The Chinese government has not said whether it will oppose a Security Council seat for Japan. But Beijing regards Tokyo as its rival for supremacy in Asia and could be unwilling to give up its status as the only Asian nation with a permanent council seat, which carries veto power over U.N. actions.

Body language basics

April 7th, 2005 by donnaboer

Body language basics

By Marcia Jedd

People form impressions of you within an instant, often unconsciously. By gauging body language, you can assess if he or she is "just not that into you" or if they are really into you and want to get to know you better. You can shape a person’s impression of you by being aware of your own body language, using it to match your feelings about the person, or to convey messages about yourself.

Ann Demarais, Ph.D. and co-author of First Impressions: What You Don’t Know About How Others See You (Bantam Dell, 2004) says men and women employ similar body language to show interest: Smiling, eye contact, leaning forward and light touching. "If you tend to be stiff, you may send the wrong message. Even shy people who never talk can simply lean forward and nod to increase their likeability," Demarais says.

Eye contact is a compelling way to show interest, says communications expert Leil Lowndes, author of Updating: How to Get a Man or Woman Who Once Seemed Out of Your League (McGraw-Hill, 2004). She advises women in particular to keep their gaze on the man without breaking eye contact until he’s finished speaking, noting biological reactions occur when we do this. "Extra eye contact can deliver an oomph and conveys your interest," she says.

Demarais recommends being aware of your level of eye contact. Men in particular may have the habit of "shifty eyes," looking around while talking to someone. "People do notice this and it can be a distraction," she says, noting research that found people are more positively perceived when they give longer, less frequent gazes. Conversely, people are liked less when they give short, yet frequent gazes to their conversation partner.

For both sexes, touch may simply have the greatest influence on how you’re liked and men in particular respond to it. “People get a warm glow when you touch a person casually on the arm or a hand even for half a second,” Demarais says. In one study on the power of touch, researchers asked shoppers to answer a questionnaire. In some cases, the researchers touched the shoppers lightly. When researchers dropped their papers, those shoppers who were touched were most likely to help the researcher pick up the papers. Male shoppers that were touched by female researchers helped the most.

Is he interested?
You met him and talked briefly, but is he interested? Both authors say open body language, including gestures like an eyebrow flash or smoothing your tie or lapel, can indicate interest. So does active listening. “Men can sometimes miss opportunities to stop the pattern of lecturing and ask the date their opinion,” Demarais says.

"If he’s interested and confident, he’ll look at you longer. His voice will be more excited. He’ll be frisky, a little nervous, but in a nice way," Lowndes says. On the other hand, shy men may not have very open gestures or court much eye contact. “Smile appreciatively after a woman talks. Use laughter, joke around, but show appreciation and complete confidence,” Lowndes advises.

Both authors say the power of positive words and images we project about ourselves goes a long way. Lowndes points to a university study that examined how men react after they’ve been told about a woman’s appearance and then subsequently speak with her on the phone. “When told the woman was unattractive, the students were lethargic. When told the woman was very attractive, they stood up and paced the room,” Lowndes says.

Is she interested?
You like her, but is she interested? Women in social situations often display easy-to-read body language and use highly symbolic gestures to express how they feel. "When a man first enters the room, an interested woman may become more energetic and straighten her posture, even thrust out her breasts," Lowndes says. A shy woman might demurely look down and away, only to look up again within less than a minute.

“Any kind of primping is a big sign she’s interested, or if she licks her lips," Lowndes says. Other clues she’s interested include sidelong glances, wrist flash, subtly touching her body or casually brushing hair away from her face.

Tricks of the trade
Both authors say men can be lured to a woman by her glances, but one study Demarais cited found men needed multiple sequences of eye contact and smiling to get them to approach. “You need a little extra coaxing for the man to take action,” Demarais says. She recommends mirroring a person’s body movements or matching rate of speech to endear them to you.

Lowndes adds, “A woman shouldn’t worry about whether he looks interested.” She tells women to go ahead and make an approach. “If you wait too long, you’ll lose your chance.”

"Sometimes you want to send a message that you’re not interested, so be neutral,” Demarais says. “Being neutral, whether that’s leaning back, not moving your head or body, or not smiling can be perceived as a lack of interest.”

Michael Jackson Dead

April 6th, 2005 by donnaboer

SANTA BARBARA, CA—During a search for evidence at the Neverland Valley Ranch, investigators discovered a corpse that has been identified as that of Michael Jackson, Santa Barbara police officials announced Tuesday.

"Coroners have officially pronounced Michael Jackson dead. From what we can tell, he died between 18 and 20 years ago," forensic investigator Tim Holbrooke said. "We are not certain, at this time, who—or what—has been standing trial in that Santa Maria courthouse."

According to Holbrooke, Jackson’s corpse was buried just inches below a stretch of the miniature-train tracks that run throughout Neverland. The largely desiccated corpse wore the remains of a red, zipper-covered leather jacket and a single glove.

"We positively identified the body as Jackson by his dental records and DNA," Holbrooke said. "But even before we conducted a single forensic test, we began to suspect that that we’d uncovered the real Michael, and that the disturbing figure claiming to be Jackson was a fake."

Holbrooke said that, although the corpse was in an advanced stage of decomposition, when investigators compared the body to early-career publicity photos of Jackson, they saw a striking resemblance in bone structure and facial features. But when they compared the body to photos taken after 1987, the resemblance was negligible.

"This discovery raises a lot of questions, but it also sheds light on a number of disturbing incidents," Holbrooke said. "Frankly, Jackson had been acting pretty strange."

Forensic experts and music critics are postulating that Jackson was dead before the release of the multi-platinum album Bad. Detectives are currently analyzing the lyrics to "Man In The Mirror" for any clues relating to a look-alike entity that many suspect murdered the youngest member of the Jackson 5 and assumed his identity.

"We believe that Neverland served as some sort of freakishly whimsical tomb constructed by Jackson’s killer," Holbrooke said. "We also suspect that all of the iniquities that occurred on that ranch were the work of the imposter. I wouldn’t have ever thought it possible, but we are looking at a situation where the sexual abuse of a 13-year-old cancer patient is the tip of the iceberg."

Holbrooke said that, while the living Jackson is the leading suspect in the murder investigation, he "could be another victim of some sort."

"Basically, we have no idea what type of creature we are dealing with," Holbrooke said. A member of the investigative team that discovered Jackson’s body described the experience as "otherworldly."

"As we neared the perimeter of Neverland, the dogs started whining and howling like crazy," Santa Barbara County detective Frank Poeller said. "We had to pull them into the house. When we got to Jackson’s bedroom, one of them almost choked himself to death on his leash trying to get out through the window. Minutes later, the same dog led us to the corpse."

A representative from Jackson’s self-created label, MJJ Productions, said he was not surprised to find out that the current Jackson is an imposter.

"When we were recording ‘Heal The World’ for Dangerous, I could tell something was terribly, terribly wrong," MJJ manager Luke Allard said. "Michael didn’t seem like himself anymore. He’d demand bizarre food and sit for hours in a hyperbaric chamber. His appearance began to become more and more peculiar. Soon afterwards, he started wearing a mask and confiding in a chimpanzee."

"I remember thinking, ‘This man has become a monster,’" Allard said. "If only I’d known how right I was."

Allard said he thinks that the imposter broke ties with Jackson’s former friends and surrounded himself with children who were too young to notice the radical change.

Vanity Fair reporter Beth Pither visited Neverland in 1994.

"A strangely fearful staff member led me to Jackson, but ran off before I opened the door," Pither said. "Standing there with my hand on an ice-cold doorknob, I heard strange, unnatural sounds—leathery wings flapping, a sorrowful wail, and loud hissing. A wave of dread passed through me as I opened the door, but all I found was Michael and some kids in pajamas eating ice cream and watching 101 Dalmatians."

While their claims have not been corroborated, other Neverland visitors have reported that when when Jackson entered a room, lights flickered, faucets ran blood-red, and screams escaped from the walls.

To aid in the investigation, the FBI enlisted Dr. Richard Weingarden, a noted expert on the paranormal from UC Santa Barbara. After only two hours, Weingarden abandoned the project.

"The smell of sulfur, the decaying facial features, the bizarrely high-pitched voice—it sounds exactly like…" Weingarden said, trailing off. "I’m sure it’s nothing. Not a big deal. Nothing to be terrified about, certainly. I have to go. I’ve got a family."

Thomas Sneddon, the prosecutor in Jackson’s child-molestation lawsuit, said it remains to be seen how the shocking discovery will affect the trial.

Megan Gustafson, who left her post as president of the Akron, OH Michael Jackson Fan Club after the singer was accused of molestation, offered a positive view of the grisly revelation.

"This is very disturbing news," Gustafson said. "But to be honest, it’s kind of a relief too. Thriller and Off The Wall are really amazing records. Now I can pull them out of my ‘ruined by child abuse’ storage bin and start listening to them again."
